Our Summer games picnic was a lovely day of dappled sunlight and the warmth tempered by gentle breezes, in the Royal Botanic Gardens…
Fun in the sun!
Aha! Yet another game of Dixit Codenames! People can’t get enough of using detailed picture cards from Dixit instead of the simple word cards in Codenames. Even in the park, we often had multiple games of this at the same time!
Hanabi – an intriguing fireworks game where your cards face away from you and the other players give you hints about what you have. Some people just can’t get enough of it! Even at the picnic last year it was very popular.
Scrabble – great to see the classics come out, and it works so well outdoors!
Ordinary Codenames, with words instead of pictures. Still popular, but I haven’t worked out yet who prefers one version over the other…
Please drop a message on this discussion if you are a Codenames fan, of either variety. Let us know which you prefer and why.
Another game of Hanabi!
The gem trading game Splendor … as one wit put it … “Splendor in the Grass” (cf the music festival of same name)
Ben Frayle also took some natty little pictures of our picnic …
Happy New Year Everyone!!
Can it really be 2016 already?
Cafe Games is definitely back on again this year, with the same “second Saturday of the month” schedule. I think there’s one or two days which will be off-schedule, but each month check us on Facebook or on the Calendar right here on the blog to see if there have been any changes.
Unusually our first event is already at the Celtic Club this year! Normally they’re not open … but they are this year! See you this weekend – Saturday 9th Jan!
I look forward to seeing you all, whether you’re returning regulars or brand new people! ~ Christopher
